Tech tip: If you ever have to replace an output transformer in a Portaflex amp with PC board: B15N, B18N,etc.., cut the old wires close to the transformer base. Splice the new wires onto the old ones and leave room under the can to tuck them away. Why? There is a shield that the wires run through under the PC board. If you pull the original wires out of there you'll never get the new in The result is you'll get ground loops, hum and noise. This tip comes from one of the original Ampeg service personnel.
