Vintage Ampeg GS12R Reverberocket II Amplfier, "TWEED", Working

Ampeg GS12R Tweed Frpmt

This vintage Ampeg GS12R Reverberocket II  is in functional condition but could use some TLC to be i't's best.

At some point in it's liftime is was converted to th eFender Tweed look.  Whoever did the work,  did a nice job too.

All  controls work on this amp, as does reverb,  tremelo and afterbeat effects. Reverb foot switch is  a lttle wonky and the reverb will come on by itself somtimes.

It currently has old stock tubes in it.

Tone is good, voume is good, but does break up earlier thatn it probably should, maybe the worn out power tubes, OT or other component.

Someone must have loved this amp and took care of it over the years and it looks to have been servced by a qualfied tech.

Output transformer is an older replacement, see pics.  No familiar with it so not sue what it's supposed to sound like.

We've done a quick inspection and  noted  few things that we noticed may need attention to help it get back to it's glory.

1. New set of power tubes or better yet a whole set but power tubes are ivery much used.

2. The volume and bass controls have been replaced and hardwired in.  They work but best to use our long tine, PC mount pots as the hardwired ones can be prone to move and twist the wires.

3. Speaker is functional but  has repairs  so  not so hot on tone right now.  We could re-cone it for you for 85.00. My speaker tech says it's a Jensen made for  Olson Electronics an it is similar to the C12PS or C12N.  Ir you don't want to re-cone it,  we recommend th Eminence Private Jack 8ohm speaker.

Good news is tht the filter caps are relatively new and should not need replacement and amp already has a modern 3 prong power cord.

A few things to clean up here but should make a great amp for someone.

Please email or call with any questions.
